DESI GOES TO SCHOOL

 Desi, are you going to school?    Oh, my, I love your books and your outfit-- and your morning snack!    You have some heavy reading there!

 She decided to model a few autumn outfits.  I love her hat.

 A new hat that her mom created-- it looks stunning on her.

 No outfit?   Must be between changes.

 Is that the book you are going to read first?   It's about nutrition-- maybe that's why the  apple is there.

 Another change-- are you getting bored now?

 You're such a beauty!  Everyone loves when you are the subject of a blog.  

I know you have a birthday coming up next month-- I hope your mom and dad will take some birthday pictures so everyone can celebrate!!

COCO MOVES INTO SUMMER

 Coco, in Australia, is headed into spring and summer.

 The Australia Native Orchid is coming out.

 So pretty!

 The wisteria is stunning!

 Does it have a scent, Melinda?

 Coco is fine posing with some flowers.

 Yes, you are a beauty!

 She could be a little Peke model.

 She is enjoying the warmer weather, lounging on the grass.

 Are you puckering up for a kiss?

 Coco looks like she is center court.

 As it gets cold here, it will get warm there.   Can we take a Peke club trip to warm up?

I think that would be a great idea!    I'd love to go!

FAREWELL SWEET SARIE

 Sarie and her brother, Sampson, came into rescue this week.   They were both tiny at 8 pounds.  Both in bad shape, both full of tapeworms, fleas, skinny... They were taken immediately to our vet in Roanoke.    Sarie was the more serious of the two and she began coughing.    She seemed to rally, but then did a fast turn for the worse.  

Her foster parents (the vet we use there) gave her everything they could.    Sometimes, we can't fix them and this is so difficult.   Here is what her foster dad, Roger, wrote.   "Sarie had put up a good fight but unfortunately her broken little body didn't have enough energy to overcome her many problems. Who knows if things would have turned out differently if we could have gotten to her sooner or had the owner surrender directly to the rescue. She was very thin, anemic, full of fleas, loaded with intestinal parasites and then she got kennel cough. She faced insurmountable odds but we did all we could to help her through.

Early this mourning at 1:30 she was looking a little better and I gave her some medicine and rubbed her head and body for about 5 minutes - she really liked the attention. I checked on her again at 2:00 to make sure her IV was still running and she lifted her head and looked up at me. I gave her a little more loving before heading off to bed. Lucinda went down at 6:30 to start the day with additional meds, etc..and she met her at the cage door and walked out. Unfortunately, she crashed at 8:18 and passed away. Lucinda was holding her as her took her last breaths. We are very upset and saddened by her passing as we wanted so much for her to rally through this. Rest in peace sweet Sarie. We loved you,"

Run free now, precious girl.  Pray for her brother, Sampson, who is also being treated, as he goes with the loss of his best friend.

KAI KAI AND KAI AT THE VET

 Kai Kai has been with me over four years now-- he is ten years old and I love this dog.   He is very timid and very attached to me.  He sleeps right next to me every night.   He follows me everywhere in the house and gets frantic if I go upstairs and he doesn't know it.   So, I  call him if I go up or down, in or out....

 He had to go to the vet to have his eye checked.   He sat in Sugar Bit's car seat.   He had a great view from there-- of the street and me.  (I was in his sight the whole time!)

 While we were waiting, one of the techs came out to see Chumley-- you see, Chumley doesn't know a stranger and he was wagging his tail and rolling all over to get attention.

 I told them Kai Kai was just very timid.   So, she came to pet him-- and said HER name was Kai!  Spelled the same!

 Wow-- Kai Kai and Kai!

Kai Kai was fine with her petting him, but kept his eyes on me the ENTIRE time.   He was making sure he wasn't going anywhere!  That's my boy!

SOPHIE AND HURRICANES

 Sophie heard there was bad weather coming to her former foster home.   She doesn't look too bothered by it.    Princesses can't be bothered by mundane things like hurricanes.

 Our home/area was getting a lot of rain.   We have a small creek behind us and it was getting wider and wider.    Normally, you can't even use a kayak on it-- but today, I think we could get a motor boat in there!

 Water is coming into the yard-- but the house is MUCH higher, so there are no worries for us.

 Starlight and Kai Kai will go outside-- quickly!   Max will, too.  Chumley?  Not a chance!  (He will use a piddle pad.)

 Meanwhile, Sophie is taking it easy.   I know she really IS concerned about us.  Right?

Oh, there she is!   I knew she cared!   We're fine, Sophie!!  (The hurricane is headed in a different direction!)

DYLAN

 Dylan was turned into a Virginia shelter because he was probably no longer doing his "job" of being a stud dog.   He belonged to a breeder--

 He is 7 years old and a beautiful boy.  

 He is known to roll over for tummy rubs and will snuggle up.   He might take a bit to warm up, but then he's loyal.   That's a Peke for you!

 He is ready for adoption, and will make a wonderful companion.   He is a big boy at 19 pounds-- just more to love!

THEO--WELCOME TO RESCUE!

 This little man was in a shelter in the western part of Virginia.  

 His sad face just got to me!    He has grinch paws in this picture-- he needed some help.

 He came into rescue and has had his medical-- he had a bladder infection so he is on antibiotics.  He has been neutered, had his vaccines and a dental.  

 He is only 14 pounds and so sweet.   Roger and Lucinda (who he is with temporarily) said he doesn't know a stranger.

 He is 7-8 years old, so has many years left.   Oh, that face!   Pekes with those "sad" faces just grab my heart.

 He gets along with everyone.   All the dogs at Roger and Lucinda's don't bother him a bit.   Neither does the cat.

 Are you ready for a road trip to your foster home, Theo?   He'll be fostered near me with Toni, so I will get to meet him!

He is going to make some family an awesome pet!!
