JASPER COMES TO VISIT

Jasper came into rescue last week.
He had a microchip, but his owner had not updated her number when it was changed, so she could not be contacted.   Please remember to check your microchip information.
Jasper came for a short visit.   He wandered my house.
Where does that door go?   To the playroom-- okay!
 Maybe I'll go that way.
A new friend came to visit.  I told her Starlight would have nothing to do with her and to ignore her.
Starlight must have heard me, because she was all over her, giving kisses, receiving attention.
Jasper loved wandering the yard-- he is 10.5 pounds of adorable!    He is about ten, we think.   He seems to be housetrained and he is fine with other dogs.   He didn't mind Sugar Bit at all.
Jasper will have a dental and nasal fold surgery next week-- he needed some antibiotics first.   Then, he's ready for a home.  We have a few applications already, so I don't think he will be with us long.   He is so precious!!   Welcome to rescue, Jasper!    If you would like to contribute to Jasper's surgery, just go to our website at www.potomacpekes.org or email us at potomacpekes@gmail.com.

GUS COMES TO THE PICNIC

Gus came all the way from New York to come to the picnic.
He saw his foster mom, Jeanne.   We foster moms LOVE to see our former fosters!
He saw the cake and thought it was perfect!  Pekes do rule!
 Do I smell bar-b-q?  Yum!
His mom adopted him almost 2 years ago and she sure loves him!
I love spending time at the picnic with our adopted dogs.
Last year, Gus was with Willie-Wonton for the photo shoot-- did you have pictures this year?
Gus, we're so happy you came and that you have such a wonderful mom!

NICKY AT THE PICNIC

Nicky came to the picnic and was dressed up as a cowboy.
He is an older boy and Robin just adopted him last year.    (I know I say I love the seniors, but really, I love the older ones and am so thrilled when one is adopted!)
Nicky is so sweet and a good sport.   I think he is licking the crumbs of the treats off his mouth.  (Lucinda keeps treats on hand when Roger is taking the pictures.)
 He was so good,  but....
Then, he was ready to get down!
And what did we do-- put him on something else!   His mom bid on the car seat.
We know it's pink, but it works great!!   And Nicky doesn't mind.
His mom put on his sunglasses and he was ready to go home.
We both left at the same time so I was able to see how high up he was and Nicky could see the world!
Robin stopped to pick up the sign...
And then she was off-- another wonderful Pekingese picnic.   Thank you to all of you who came!  What a great group of friends we have!

KAI KAI AT THE PICNIC

Kai Kai went with me to the picnic.   Jeanne brought a stroller for him.   Since he has lost his sight, he is unsure of everything.
His former foster buddy, Rammi, was there, saying encouraging words.
Lucinda helped dress Kai Kai for the photo shoot.   Desi was helping.  (Treats were available, too!)
We chose a few outfits for Kai Kai.
What is out there?    When he hears sounds that are unfamiliar, it really gets his attention.
He wore a thundershirt to try to keep him calm.
It was a little chilly, so it probably made him warm, too.
Yum, treats for being such a good boy!!
I'm hoping Kai Kai will adjust quickly to his new world.   He is such sweet boy.   And he's mine. ;-)

PVPC PICNIC-- FUN!

We had so much fun at the picnic.   Desi's Photo Booth was set up and lots of wonderful pictures were taken!   I'll be sharing some this week.
Muggles and Sushi didn't want to be photographed. But, their dad, Alan, helped.
Suzy-Q was there.   She tried to tell Kai Kai that it would be okay if he did not have his sight.  She has no eyes, and has done great.
Arby was there with her beautiful coat!
"Here, I will pose for you!"
Celeste and her Marco Polo were there-- I will do a story on him later.
We had our annual silent auction and this beautifully framed photo was there.    Everyone loved it!
I think this is Trixie-- but I could be wrong-- I met so many new Pekes.   She was really glamorous for her photo time.
There were SO many things to bid on at the auction.   Four tables of contributions helped us bring in some much needed money for medical care.   There was a Pekingese lamp there!!   (I loved it, but someone else got it.)
Desi, in her stunning dress, supervised the photo area.    She wanted to make sure every picture was stunning- and they all were.
Several of us stayed to clean up, chat and just catch up.   Thank you to Kay, Claretta, Roger, Lucinda, and my husband, Matt.    Of course, ROBIN was the hardest worker there-- she set up everything and helped to take down everything.   Please post a note to thank her-- the picnic would not happen without her help-- she is amazing!!   THANK YOU, ROBIN!!!   Most picnic pictures coming!

My Kai Kai went to the picnic this year.   He dressed up as a cowboy at Desi's photo booth!
We had so many Pekes there and they were all adorable.
It was late when we got home and since it's Sunday, this is a short blog.   Stay tuned this week for lots of picnic pictures!!
