STARLIGHT-- MOVING UP

Starlight heard that there were blizzards in our country-- but this picture was not this week.   She just wanted to show her Peke friends that she is with them in spirit.
Starlight has actually been learning new things.  She is over 12 now, and has NEVER been a jumper.
But, somehow, she jumped on this stool.   In all the years I've had her, she's never done this.
Usually, she is at ground level, sitting or playing with her girl, Sugar Bit.
But then, she jumped on the dishwasher-- I think she was hoping there was a morsel left over.   Sorry girl, I rinse my dishes.
So, it was back playing with Sugar Bit.
And then, one day a few weeks ago, she jumped on this little stool.  That was unusual,
Floyd asked her how she did it.
But, then, a miracle-- she jumped from the stool to the chair.  What??!
She was so proud of herself!  Of course, she could not get down.
I don't know why she wants to move up in the world, but I guess she does.   I got this little trampoline at the consignment store for children that I go to-- and Starlight thought it was for her!
I guess she's taking over!   Of course, she's been doing that for years.

JUSTICE-- ADOPTED!

Justice came into rescue when his owner could no longer care for him as well as she thought he deserved.   Sometimes, owners do a selfless thing when they ask for help.  She wanted him to have a great home.
Ida picked him up for us and he began his rescue adventure.  It wasn't a long one!
He is a great little dog!
His foster mom, Lisa loved every minutes with him.
He had a couple who wanted to meet him as soon as he came into rescue.
They felt like he needed to be in their family, and they adopted him last week-end.
They have adopted before and are a wonderful family.
Justice and his new brother, Tai are getting used to each other and I'm sure they will be great friends.  I can't wait to hear about his new life there!!

FAREWELL TUCKER

Tucker came into rescue in 2006.  My friend, Kristi, fostered him.   He had a lot of skin issues and needed time to heal.  He was adopted after he was better and went to live with a new mom.
A few years ago, we were asked to help him, as his mom was having trouble caring for him.
Kay and Claretta stepped up and he went to live with them.  After a short time back with his owner, he came back to stay with rescue.  He was in severe condition.  He had been fed a vegetarian diet and that is awful for dogs-- they need meat in their diets.   The vet wasn't sure he was going to make it because his condition was so severe.  But, Kay and Claretta didn't give up.  And neither did Tucker!    He rallied and it was amazing to see this little man (under 11 pounds) come back to life.
He even celebrated more birthdays with them!!  Birthdays are a big deal at their house, a joyful time for everyone!
Saturday, Tucker seemed his normal happy self, but that evening, he began to get sick.  He was 15, but the change happened so fast.   The vet saw him, gave him fluids and a shot to help him.  He was in kidney failure and he died on his own during the night on Monday.   His moms are so saddened and so are all of us who have followed his journey with them.   He can run free now, play with his friends who are already at the Rainbow Bridge-- I'm sure many of our PVPC rescues greeted him there.   He was greatly loved-- and will be greatly missed.

CAMP RUNAMUCK WEEK-END SESSION

Some form of Camp Runamuck is usually in session since I have two of the grandbits here a lot (they live across the street).   But, big sessions of Camp Runamuck happen when the rest of the Bits come.  We love it!
The grandbits and their dogs came for the week-end so their mom could have a week-end away just having fun.  Their dad was working, so the Bits and dogs came here.
Our porch becomes "play central" when the weather is nice.
"Poppy" always makes pancakes with them.
Drill Bit and Beach Bit had a dinosaur puzzle-- they loved it!
Bitty Bit aka The Viking had magnetic "paperdolls"-- a new version of what I played with as a child.
 The boys were so proud!
Granger-Danger can relax more than any dog I've seen.  He's completely bent around and totally relaxed.  Look for both of his back feet.
Pi is so sweet-- love this girl.  She's about 15 and one of my favorite dogs ever.
Max (one of mine) just slept a lot.  He's going on 14, so he just watches the chaos go by.
Magnetic blocks were out-- building fortresses and houses.
The girl Bits and I went shopping.  New sweat pants, tops, and of course, lip gloss for all of us.  GiGi is in the background, a sweet Chocolate Lab.
 Oh, my heart.
Lawson wanted to say hi to Miss Jeanne-- she has been part of his life since he was so small.
Granger was his bad self, so he wore a belly band here-- his mom (my daughter) calls him the sweetest, bad dog ever.  Yep.  He loves to dig for moles, find holes in the fence, generally find adventures in the yard. haha
He was inside, but he still looked.
After all the Bits/dogs went home, Max napped more!
Kai Kai, Floyd and Starlight thought the house became very quiet.
Chumley looked for "his girl" The Viking.  (Why does his left ear always flap back??)
And then Starlight said, "BLAH!"   My house is back!   For now, Camp Runamuck is closed-- but you know it could open back up at any time!

PRINCE ADOPTED

Prince came to rescue as a very sick boy last November.  We just weren't sure he was going to make it.
But, his foster mom was very experienced and so wonderful in her care for this sweet boy.
In spite of all he was going through, he kept trying to pull forward.   Comfy beds, good food, lots of love-- they all make a difference.  And of course, VET CARE from our outstanding vets. (He was given a lot of care at Woodbridge Animals Hospital in Woodbridge, Virginia.)  Prince had a lot of issues-- digestive, eyes, skin.   Our supporters kept rallying to give for his care-- I'm so grateful.
After being with his foster mom, she realized she totally loved this sweet boy and didn't want to let him go.  So, she adopted him in February.  (I'm slow getting to this blog because of all the flu going around here.)
Prince still fights to be healthy, but he LOVES his walks.  Even on rough days, these walks seemed to energize him.
I'm so happy that Kim adopted this precious boy.  He could not have a better home!!
