HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY MAX!

 Max and his sister, Maggie, came into rescue in 2008. 

 They had been dumped together in a field in the middle of "nowhere" near me.  They had microchips, and we contacted the owners with no response.   I knew where they had lived (from the microchip), so I called every vet in that area and was able to get their records.   In rescue, we can become sleuths to find what we need. 

 Max was missing an eye already, and he was sweet, but also grumpy.

 He immediately found the ottoman in front of the window.   He still loves that ottoman.  The toys, not so much.  Someone else put them there. LOL

 He loved the Pekingese Pathway. 

 Max was good with all the fosters that came and went.   Joyful Bubbles came over and he was so kind to her. 

 Fosters came and were adopted.  His sister, Maggie, was adopted.   When she was adopted after almost a year (she was a sick girl and took a long time to get well), I decided Max had earned his place here and we adopted him.

 Max was willing to share his ottoman sometimes-- here he is with Bentley. 

 And granddog Callie.

 Max and his buddy, Chumley.  Chumley is about 14 now.  He's losing some of his sight and hearing, but he loves to play with his dumbbell. 

 His sister, Maggie was a beauty.  She passed away last year. 

 She was the cutest dog!

 Max did fine without her because he stayed in his familiar environment with us.   He loves to watch TV.   In fact, he really lets the TV know his opinion if an animal is on there.  Now Nala joins him!

 He loves snow, and his yard.  He has a spot where he loves to just hang out.   He can lap in the shade as long as I will let him (which isn't long). 

 He is slower now.   He gets eye drops and his hearing is diminished.

 He is much grayer.

 He loves us-- even though he can be grumpy. 

 He likes to be left alone some.   He's not super social.

 But, he keeps an eye on Kai Kai.

 I often find them together.

 I love this picture.

 My rescue motto is this-- and it sure made a difference for Max.   (And so many others.)

 He loves our home-- even though he doesn't show it. 😛

 He loves the blanket that Jackie made.

 I can't believe he is 15 years old today.   (We know his birthday from all the paperwork we discovered when we found his vet.) 

 We will celebrate this milestone!

DUKE AND OREO

 Duke and Oreo were in their foster home for a year and a half. 

 We would love for our fosters to remain with us forever.    But, then we could not help another-- we would be too full.   Princess won't leave.  She's in hospice care, but most can be adopted.

 Rocky has been waiting for a new home with his dad, Furby.   He loves his foster home.  Maybe one day, he'll find a new home.

 We have received a lot of interest in Duke and Oreo, but the right home didn't come along. 

 Then we got an application that was wonderful.   Long time Peke lovers and owners wanted both of the boys.

 So, off they went and so far, they are doing great.   After a dog is adopted, there is a time of transition, especially after they have been in a foster home for a long time.

 And there's a transition for the pets still in the foster home.  Even the cat, who was raised by Oreo.  She isn't too sure where they went.

 Rocky misses them.

 And he looks for them.

Furby and all those still there will adjust-- and the "new" group will become the normal.   Rescuing is so rewarding-- but it hurts the heart some, too.   Thank you, Bill and Jackie, for the wonderful care you gave Duke and Oreo and all those in your care.  💜

BRIDGET-- LITTLE BEAUTY

Bridget is so cute!!  She was adopted and lives in Richmond now.

She has such a wonderful personality-- and is ready for adventure!  Are you going somewhere?

She went to her groomer and had a beautiful summer "do."

Getting beautiful is exhausting!   So, she came home and took a nap.  

 Nap's over!  Time to go for a walk.

I don't think Disney World is on this outing.  But, you can wear your hat anyway.  💜

WELCOME CHEWY!

 Chewy came into rescue a few weeks ago. 

 He has dense cataracts and is totally blind.  He is 9 years old (we were told).  Cataracts can come early for some dogs. 

 He was not wanted and we worked to get him into rescue. 

 There are so many things that happen in rescue that the public never knows about.  Heartbreaking things-- but once we get them, we look FORWARD!

 He is healthy and we are going to try to give him his sight back.  Like Matilda, it could be a miracle for him.

 He is loving and happy.

 WELCOME TO YOUR NEW LIFE, CHEWY!

GIZZY AND DOOLIN--WHAT A LIFE!

Gizzy has been one of our foster dogs twice.  His first adopter had a problem and had to return him to rescue.  It was the best thing that happened to Gizzy.

He had so many allergies and was a mess.  His adoptive owner just didn't know what to do.

There are so many things that CAN be done for a dog with allergies.

Gizzy's foster parents (who became his adopters the second time) began a mission to give him the best life he could have.  I was SO impressed by all they did.

Gizzy is an older boy now.  But, he's in great shape, and he plays and loves his life.

Is that toy good?

He can be the center of attention and love every minute.

His brother, Doolin, and Gizzy love napping together after a busy day.

I LOVE the updates I get on him.   What a life!

COCO AND THE ROYAL WEDDING

 I know the Royal Wedding was in May, but I forgot to share how Coco celebrated. 

 My friend, Melinda, lives in Australia, so this was a big deal.  Melinda made a cake so Coco could celebrate in style.  It had icing and confetti around it.   Melinda and her husband, and Melinda's Mum celebrated with Pink Champagne and a standing rib roast-- wow, I would have gone for just that! 

 She said Coco could be Miss Markle Sparkle for the day.  I'm sure Coco thought that was a great idea. 

I can just see the excitement in Coco's face-- or not.   But, she was a good sport and I think it was a fun time for all of them.   What are you celebrating next, Coco?
