COLTRANE

 We were asked to take in this "little" man.    He's 21 pounds and 4 years old.   He had some eye problems and no one had treated them.    It was mostly dry eye, but we are having his eyes checked out more.

He is getting eye drops now and loves the dogs at his foster home.    Coltrane is a beautiful tri-color Peke with a lot of personality.   He is learning to trust people-- I wonder what he went through before we got him.

LISA'S PEKES

 Lisa is one of our volunteers.  She has helped us get Pekes out of shelters and held them until foster homes are found.   It's wonderful to have her on the team!   She has two Pekes-- resting above.   (I'd like to take a nap!)

 This is Rocky-- "peking" at us through the stair rails.

 He loves car rides and I think he's ready to go!

 Lisa, like most of us Peke lovers, takes a lot of pictures of her boys.

 This is Daytona-- he's a member of the Pirate's Club with his one eye.  She says he's her Winky dog. :-)

Momo and Daytona (love the teeth) are ready for all the snow to end and for spring to be here.   I know it's here on the calendar, but the weather hasn't gotten the notice!    Come on Spring!

TEDDY--HELPER!

 Teddy came into rescue almost 3 years ago-- he came in with Cosme and they are both now permanent residents in their home.

 Teddy is about 11 years old now.   You know I love the seniors, and this one is so cute!

 He's a happy boy!

 Could you find a cuter face?  

 He had a job this year-- helping supervise his mom's painting of the kitchen cabinets.   It was a big job for him and a bigger one for his mom!

He had a front row seat to make sure it was all done well.   And he did a great job because the kitchen is finished and Teddy can move on to find another need for his expertise.   Great job, Teddy!

HANNAH BELLE ADOPTED

Look who was adopted-- oh, my, that face is so adorable!!!    I know she will have a wonderful life now!    Happy Adoption Dance!!!

NICOLE'S PEKES

 One of the great things about rescue is that you meet incredible people who have huge hearts and want to help.   One of those people is Nicole.   She has a rescue group in South Carolina and she helped when a shelter near me had to seniors (not Pekes) who needed to go into a rescue.   Nicole's group took them and I know she is someone I can call on to help with dogs and  transport.   She sent me pictures of her Pekes.   She has two right now-- along with a Japanese Chin.   Above, Louie, is ready for bed.   (I think this is Louie-- it might be Arnold.)

 This is Henrietta-- she was a senior with a limited time left and Nicole took her in.   Henrietta loved to sit in a pan of water-- a good way to cool down on warm South Carolina days.    She is at the Rainbow Bridge now, but was the love of Nicole's life.

Here is Arnold (or Louie-- ) who she has now.   What a sweet face!    It is wonderful that there are others out there, with rescue groups of their own, and we can all work together to help each other out.    I love rescue!

FAREWELL TIMMY

 Timmy came into rescue almost two years ago.   He was from a shelter near me, so he spent a few days here before heading off to Martha and Eve's for fostering.

 Here was Beach Bit (at 1 1/2 years old) meeting Timmy.   Timmy was so excited to meet him-- he was a sweet boy.

 He headed out to join his foster family and we realized Timmy had some limitations on seeing and hearing.

 The seniors are so special, but they aren't always adopted.    That's okay-- he was happy in his foster home.

 Timmy had almost two years of love and care before his foster parents realized it was time to let him go.   That is so hard to do-- but it's often the last loving thing we can do for them.    Timmy is free now-- running around, waiting for the rest of us.    Rest in peace, sweet boy.  

JOY

 This is Joy-- she came to us with a group of other Pekes.   She was part of a puppy mill and was now safe.

 She came to us almost 5 years ago, and in spite of her treatment, or lack of treatment-- she was still happy.

 We did all we could for her to begin her on her path of health and a home.

 That home came and she had on her fancy harness and was ready to go!

 She was happy--just look at that smile.

I just got a new picture of her with a friend.   She looks great and even though the first five years of her life was hard,  she's been loved ever since.   I love these updates!
