FAREWELL DAISY

Daisy has been part of our PVPC family for a long time.   Her Dad is one of our good friends.
Daisy was adopted from a rescue near where Rich lives in Pennsylvania.  She had been with him a long time.
She was so beautiful.
She was originally adopted with Onslow.
Onslow had a severe back issue years ago and went to live with Lucinda and Roger and have surgery there.   They fell in love with him and he joined their family.
Daisy loved having her dad to herself.   She was his special girl.
She was happy and healthy and full of joy.
Meeting Santa was so much fun.  Her dad said, "She ruled the neighborhood and walking her was a treat because she would let every dog know that they were on her sidewalk and they needed to cross the road. She always had the last bark."  The neighbors adored her.  For many, Daisy was the first Pekingese they had ever met-- she was a wonderful ambassador for the breed.
Daisy and her dad were so close and loving.  You can see it.  See how her head is leaning toward him?
3-4 weeks ago, Daisy began having stomach issues.    Off to the vet she went.   Everything was done, but Daisy's condition did not improve.    Her intestines were very inflamed and nothing helped.   Seizures began and Daisy was declining rapidly.   Rich knew it was time.
Daisy was 12-13 and totally loved by her dad.  Losing her was heartbreaking.  He held her for four hours before she left.   He kissed her and the last thing Daisy did was turn to give her Daddy kisses.  She loved him so much.   Run free now, Sweet Daisy.     ðŸ’œ

ZOEY GOES ON A WEEK-END TRIP

Our daughters gave us a week-end away as a Christmas present.   Zoey got to go with us.  She curled up on the floor (or my lap) in the car.  She was hooked into a seat belt.
We drove three hours away-- through ice glazed trees.
It was stunningly beautiful.
I had never seen trees that seemed frosted.  ❆❆
The mountains were colder and had some snow.   Zoey wore a double sweater outside.
Our cottage had views of the mountains.
There were rockers on the porch, but I brought one inside.  I wasn't sitting outside in the cold.
It was 24 degrees when we arrived, but it got down to 12 degrees.  (Melinda, that's -11C in Australia!)
There was a winery at the edge of the property, but we practiced social distancing and had an isolated week-end.  (We were able to get some wine there.)
The mountains were so pretty.
Zoey didn't need a leash-- but it helped on icy areas, so she didn't just slide away.  LOL
She told me she wanted to go "that way."  She liked walking south-- when I tried to turn her around, she would not go.  So, I had to carry her.  All 11 pounds.
We walked and saw sheep near us.
We listened to a brook near by.
The cottage was pet friendly and had bowls set up for her.
There was a TV and fireplace, but I put my rocker where I could read and see the beauty outside.
Zoey found the fireplace.
I brought a blanket to cover the bed so she could be up there, too.
Sometimes, she just curled up in her soft bed.
The others were so excited when we came home (our daughter watched them), but Zoey had a week-end with just us, all to herself.   It was so relaxing and good to get away.

ZOEY AND THE MOUNTAINS.

Zoey went away for the week end.   She went to the mountains to a cottage.
See more tomorrow.  We have to get back into the swing of things here today.  ðŸ’•

SOPHIE SAYS HAPPY SUNDAY

Sophie is all snuggled up in this cold weather.  Another cold front has gone through.
It's February so we expect this kind of weather on the east coast.
She's inside, wrapped in a blanket and perfectly content.  How's the weather where you are?  Is it cold?   Snowy?  HOT?? (Melinda is too warm-- she said to send some snow her way to Australia.)   Whatever you are doing-- stay warm and cozy today.  HAPPY SUNDAY!  ❆⛄

PLAN FOR YOUR PETS

Adopt-a-pet posted on having a plan in place for your pets.

It's so important.   I've had applicants tell me, "We don't plan to die soon."  That's not the answer we are looking for.   Things can happen so quickly, so make sure you have a plan in plan for your pets.  The year 2020 showed us that the unthinkable can happen.  We don't want our pets to be the fall-out if something does happen.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR PETS.

Zoey is mine and Minnie is a permanent foster.  My daughters are my back-up people.  They know how important my pets are to me, and they will insure they are cared for if something ever happens.
Rascal is safe with his mom, Toni.  I know she has a back up plan.
Tina is a joy to her family.  She revitalized the house when she joined it.  I know her parents have a plan.
Sophie-- so precious.   Yep-- her mom has a plan.
Katie and Sheri were adopted from us.  They were part of the Potomac Six.  Their owners have a plan in place.
Murphy and Ming-- adored!!  Plan in place, I'm sure.

Do you have a plan for your pets?  Make sure they don't end up in a shelter by having one.   They will love you for it.  💙💚💜

REGGIE-- ONE YEAR-AVERSARY!

Reggie came into rescue a little over a year ago.
Reggie was about a year old and his owner wanted help finding a good home for him.  (She's a great person, but was only allowed 2 dogs.)
Reggie has a great sense of humor.
He loves his beds....napping is a luxury on a cold, winter day.  We all agree on that!
His markings continue to amaze me.  He's so beautiful.
Toys makes good pillows.
He loves everyone.  He has such a great personality.
Going outside is fun-- even on cooler days.
Is there anyone to play with?
Yes!    He loves his visiting friends and can keep up with them.
He's been a great home working buddy. Where are the snacks? 😀
He is a beautiful boy!!
