As we celebrate, please make sure your dogs are safe.
Make sure you pet has a name tag on. ALL THE TIME. Some people remove collars when the dogs are inside. Dogs can get out unexpectedly-- and with no name tag, no one knows how to help get them home. (All my dogs have a microchip, but tags are important to get them home quickly.) Keep a collar/harness and name tag on your pet all the time. (Thea and Thurston-- or is it Thurston and Thea?) When the fireworks begin, make sure your pets are INSIDE. Do not leave them unattended in the yard, because they can just be so afraid that they somehow get out of your fence. Dogs that are afraid are not "thinking" and just want to get away from the sound.
We want our pets to be safe.
Paddington isn't afraid of noises-- but he will still be inside. His brother, Piper, is terrified though and will need meds and a thunder shirt and white noise.
Zoey is deaf, so she'll just be on my lap, asleep.
Callie, on the other hand, is terrified of noise-- thunder or fireworks or anything. She will have extra meds to help her and she will NOT be outside. Even inside, with meds, she will be afraid. Fans will be on for white noise all night. .
I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July. Stay safe. 🎇
