Mr. Winnie came into rescue in 2017. He had been abandoned in someone's back yard after they moved.
A kind neighbor saved him and took him to the vet. He was heartworm positive and she had him treated. She took care of him.
She then contacted our rescue to see if we could find him a home.
Marian and Jim fostered him and decided he was perfect for their family.
Winnie was a beautiful boy-- his coloring was stunning.
And his eyes-- they could look deep into you.
Winnie developed IMHA over a year ago. Everything was done to help him. He had the best vets and love surrounded him.
We've learned a lot about IMHA, a critical immune disease. But, we still don't know why it happens. And there is no cure-- you just keep trying to help.
Winnie was only 8 years old, and his mom will miss him so much. Winnie joined his Dad in heaven.
His mom will hold memories close-- run free now sweet boy. 💙
