CINNAMON -- HOW IS SHE DOING?

 CINNAMON COOKIE

Every so often, someone asks about Cinnamon.

She became a favorite when she came into rescue.

She arrived before Christmas of 2023.  Paddington felt protective of her immediately!  Surprised us all since he can be "Bad Pad."
Cinnamon was in bad shape, physically and emotionally.   Our vet groomer cleaned her up beautifully.  It was mid-December, so like all our holiday rescues, she received a Christmas name-- hence Cinnamon Cookie.
Her ears and tail were "skimpy."  But they began to grow.
I began to find her and Paddington close together.    It's as if he knew she needed a protector.
She became part of the group and followed Paddington all over.
She has very limited vision, but enough to get around.
Paddington said, "This is my girl."
I looked for pictures of her, and so many had Paddington in them, too.
She is much smaller than he is.

They liked to curl up in bed together.
He's right there, Cinnamon.
She felt so safe with him.
Cinnamon experienced some kind of trauma.   We have some ideas, but it really affected her.  She began to trust me almost immediately -- not anyone else.
As her body healed, her trauma did not.   She was simply terrified of people.

After much time and thought, we didn't feel that she could go through another move.

She was so afraid of people when she came.  That has not changed much.
She began to feel safe here-- but mostly with me.   She will still run from my husband if he tries to pick her up.

If Paddington was next to her, she would let my husband sit down on the couch. .  If you tried to approach her, she would not only walk away, she would also run in terror!
She would let Piper comfort her, too.  But no one was like her Paddington.
When we're home together, she follows me and can be "tough" when we go outside.   Kicking back her feet like a big girl.
Cinnamon began to help Dickens the same way that Paddington helped her.   (Look how long her tail and ears are now!)  He has come out of his shell with her help.

She was a permanent foster, but we made her a forever member of our family this year.
Here is her June PVPC Calendar page.   She is a sweetheart!   💜
