Chief belonged to a friend of mine. I met her when she adopted one of our puppies several years ago.
Chief and his brother, Captain, were her first Pekes.
They taught their mom all about Pekes. Captain passed away at 12 from congestive heart failure.
Chief didn't wait long to have a new friend. His mom and dad added four others to their family.
Chief was a Peke who could find any mud hole and be okay playing in it.
"Who me?"
"Can you add some mud here?"
He used to love playing with toys, but as he got older, he would rather rest.
Every Christmas, he would claim every present under the tree-- they all became his!
He loved resting on the fireplace hearth and later, he would jump on anything that was higher to take a nap on it.
Chief was almost 16 and his quality of life was not there anymore. It doesn't make it any easier when we have to say good bye though. Chief, you were so loved-- run free now, sweet boy.
Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 22 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

YUM YUM-- GET TO WORK
Yum Yum has been with Melinda for about a month now.
Look at his puppy coat! Can you imagine how massive his adult coat will be!
He sent me an email to complain about being in jail. LOL
Oh, the face! How could they do that to you. 😟 He asked me to report his mom!
See this pot? Coco must have sent Yum Yum a message from heaven saying, "Yum Yum, there is possum poo in the back yard and it's better than chocolate!" So, this pot is an attempt to keep him away from the "possum tree." 😀 Is it working?
The brick around the Freesia plants makes a good chew toy. Those puppy teeth need a work out!
He has already figured out the doggy door-- he's so smart!
Just look at him.
Look at this innocent face-- would he get into flowers?? Of course, he would!
And he's learning to run....
run, run....
Is Daddy after you?
Wait-- maybe Daddy has a treat. Run back to him. Quickly!
Puppies chew-- everything. Sticks, table legs...
Sticks are readily available.
Yum Yum is in front of an Australian native Orchid.
His mom hopes he doesn't chew on them-- they are beautiful!
This one is safe in a basket.
Could this face be guilty? Oh, my, I don't know! What do you think? I just want to kiss him!
He's a Mommy and Daddy boy-- and his dad wants to put him to work. Can those little paws work on the computer? This will be an adventure! Oh, Yum Yum, you are just too cute.

TUCKER-- ADORABLE!
In July of 2014, we were asked to help a dog in a shelter. I could tell he was a mix, but something about his eyes drew me in.
We took him into rescue, and he was just a sweetheart.
I did a home check in my area with a couple and they were perfect for him.
He has an incredible home.
He goes a lot of places with them! And he's always smiling. (Okay, maybe not in this picture LOL.)
Tucker-- what a happy boy!!

OLLIE J.
Oliver aka Ollie J. (the J is for Jane, his mom's name-- it helps me keep the dogs separate haha) came into rescue last November with his sister, Khloe. (She is now Ginny LoLo and more on her another day.)
Ollie was in rescue a few months and a friend and former adopter wanted to know more about him.
He was only nine, even though he has a lot of gray. He turned ten in August, a few months ago. I'm sorry I missed your birthday!
I don't know what it is about his face, but I think he's just adorable!
He has settled into his new home and loves his mom and dad. His mom told me we could call it a very successful adoption-- I think so!

Look at how he's resting his leg-- yes, he's very comfortable in his new home!

CHEWY ADOPTED!
Chewy came into our rescue when his family no longer wanted him.
He was blind but it didn't get in his way. We tried to do surgery, but his retinas had detached, so there was nothing we could do to restore his sight. Many people are concerned about adopting a blind dog, but I have one and have had quite a few blind fosters. They are amazing.
He's such a happy boy. He loves to go on walks and he loves to be near his person.
We had a wonderful application for him. Their previous dog was named Chewy-- it seemed meant to be.
And he is brave and happy.
He will look to a voice when you talk.
He turns his head toward sounds and smells. When a dog is blind, those senses are heightened.
He is very confident when going for a walk-- and he can climb stairs, too.
But, best of all is his new sister. She loves him already.
Have a happy life, Chewy!!! You will be loved. 💙 (I love this picture!)

He felt comfortable with them right away and snuggled right in.
Since Chewy has been blind a long time, he uses his other senses well. And he is brave and happy.
