FAREWELL LACY

 Little Lacy came into rescue almost seven years ago (January, 2010).  

 She was a very sick little girl, underweight and in great need.   Her foster mom, Kim, did so much to help her.   She began to thrive and it was amazing to see the change in her.

 She filled out and her hair grew in and she became secure and knew she was loved.

 She visited my house (since her foster mom was close) and we had a photo session.

 She walked on the Pekingese Pathway with Scooter, my special boy.

 Lacy was adopted by a wonderful couple and went to live in Maryland.  

 She supervised kitchen make overs...

 She snuggled with Mr. Winks, her buddy.   She loved her brother, Lafite, too and they all were a special Peke family.

 We thought Lacy was 3 years old when she came into rescue, but she was probably older.  She began to have more health problems a few years ago and her body fought hard.  

Lacy went to join her brother, Lafite this week.   Her parents are heartbroken and her brother, Mr. Winks (on the right) is so confused.   My heart breaks for Lacy's family and I know it will be hard to adjust to her loss.    She can now play with no pain, with her brother, Lafite, who died four years ago.  Run free now, little girl.   You were greatly loved.

BUMBLES

 Bumbles was a stray in a shelter near me.  

 They asked me if I would take him into rescue.   So, off to the shelter I went (others were helping to get two others out of a shelter in Maryland-- what fabulous helpers we have!).

 He is a happy boy!

 He liked posing for my pictures.

 We made a stop at my house after picking him up and then off to the vet we went.

 He had to get in some tummy rubs and snuggles first though.

 And then we were off!

 I looked at all the name suggestions for this little guy and they were all wonderful!   It was hard to decide, but I decided to name him Bumbles, after the snowman in The Abominable Snowman, a children's Christmas cartoon movie.

 His eyes are in rough shape, very goopy, nasal folds touching the eyes.

 Bitty Bit, aka The Viking (my second grandchild) went with me.

 He was loving all the attention.   Bumbles weighs 15 pounds, but is overweight, so a diet is in order.    His ears are good, and he got some eye medication.   He has limited vision, but he seems to get around fine, and the meds will hopefully help increase his vision.

 He has a bath, and was so good-- it took two baths and cream rinse to get him clean.   He is about 8 or a little more.   He will be reseen in a few weeks to check his eyes again, and then he will be available for adoption.   He is a SWEET boy!

MOWGLI

 We received a request to take in a seven year old Pekingese.

He is about 18 pounds and SO sweet!!   He loves to be held like a baby.

 He has been shaved down and has a mohawk on his head-- a little cold this time of year, but he has a coat. :-)

 He is a certified therapy dog and came with his vest and certificate.   He is house trained and will be ready for adoption once he is vetted.

Mowgli loves people, going on walks and just being around people.   Like most of our foster dogs, he will not be placed in a home with young children.   If you are interested in him, please fill out an application on our web site:  www.potomacpekes.org .

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

 All of us wish you a Blessed Thanksgiving!    We hope you have a wonderful day, and realize how much we have!

TUCKER'S FRIENDS

 Tucker is an older boy now, but he still has some spunk.   We weren't to sure we he came back into rescue (his owner was no longer able to care for him), but he sure fooled us all.

 He has quite a wonderful family.   Teddy and Domino were both adopted from us.

 Tina was a foster, and not really a Peke.  But, oh, so sweet and what a personality!!

 Teddy was able to go on vacation-- to the beach!

 Maggie has had some heart problems, so she went to a specialty clinic.   Isn't she beautiful!

 Pop and Bear were with me and then went to Tucker's house for fostering-- they stayed!

 Gizmo's mom (Jackie fosters for us) was making some blankets to share with our foster dogs and Gizmo was checking it out.

 He completely approved.   He checks them out before they are sent I think.

 Tucker received one of them!!   Wow, he loves it!!  

 Tori, their Doberman probably wants to try it out, too.   I don't think it will be big enough though.

 Gracie Lu came to me after her mom died in 2008.   Jane fostered her and then adopted her and Gracie had a wonderful life.  She passed away last year, but she lives on in the love her mom had for her.   Jane made a donation in her memory and in Joyful Grace's memory.   I'm sure they are both playing in heaven now!  Joyful below, probably still has a lot of outfits there!

 If you make a donation of any amount this month or/and next month, and send me a picture of your dog/dogs, I'll post their picture on this blog, which will be reposted every few days as new pictures/donations come in.   I hope it ends up being a really long blog!   You can make a donation in memory of one of your beloved Pekes, or for one that you have now.   It can be to honor someone you love.   Once you make a donation, send me a picture/name of your pet to haveninhim@aol.com   We want to end this year with JOY!

 My crew wanted to make a donation in memory of Joyful Grace.   Kai Kai and Chumley are both PVPC alumni (they all are!) and they want to help.

Whoops, that's not a Peke, but she loves the Pekes here.

Floyd wants the end of the year donations to come on in.

Starlight, the Princess, thinks her cuteness might help.

Max doesn't care either way haha.

Tucker's family is making a donation, too, so maybe I can get a picture of his entire doggy family.

Paws, Barbara Mudd's heart dog, is now on our list!  His mom made a donation to help our Pekes.  She is becoming active in helping us with rescue and has a lot of knowledge that is great!!

 Newman are monthly supporters of our rescue.   THANK YOU!!   It's amazing how you can become good friends with someone and never actually have met them!

 Bonnie's Dickens know how wonderful it is to have a forever home.

 Coco is an Australian Peke-- a rescue-- and lives with my good friend, Melinda.

 Rita's pups, Ladybug, Patches and Cupcake.  They all died within 18 months of each other at ages, 13, 14 and 10.

I know they took part of her heart with them.

 Gizzy and Doolin help us each month.

 Gizzy was a foster that they took in and they have done a tremendous job with him!!

And Doolin LOVES having a friend!!

Ann has supported our group for years.  She had a beautiful Peke named Princess. She loved her little purse!!  Princess is no longer with her, but always remembered.   

Kay and Claretta sent in a donation as we end our "Joyful Year."   They have fostered and adopted, at one time, telling us to "give us your toughest dog."   We did!   Here they are, clockwise, beginning at "4."  Domino (yep, he was a trip while we had him!), Beau (oh, I love this boy!), Tucker, Tina, Pop, Maggie and Teddy.   

 The 7 Pekes have a beautiful Doberman sister named Tori.  I just couldn't leave her out!  She just thinks she is a very big Peke!! :-)

 Amee sent in a donation in memory of Joyful Grace, and her beloved girls, Darby and Macy.  This is Lexie, one of her Pekes now.

 Amee also wanted to honor Lexie and Mollie.   Mollie is so beautiful and little-- and she sometimes thinks she is the boss.  (Hmmm, this sounds familiar!)

Harley Marie is ready to look for all things Christmas-- of course, she lets her mom go along.   Harley was one of my foster dogs and SO adorable.   I love getting updates.  

Micky and Madeline were both adopted from us and live near me.   Their mom and dad came over yesterday to visit and see our Pekes.   Madeline and Micky wanted to give a donation to help our Pekes.  Thank you!

Doris, Weezie and Teddy sent a donation-- Doris crochets and did a fundraiser to help us with our vet bills.   We really appreciate her for doing this.   

This sweet one is Pupfy-- he belonged to Robert and a donation was made in his memory.   He was Robert's heart and is so missed.
