MORE ON MO MO

Mo Mo came into rescue with Joey, Zoey and Baby. .
Mo Mo was blind and missing his tail.  An injury had happened.  And he was not easy.
He was the son of two siblings. Never a good thing. Did this affect his personality?   Was it genetics or did something happen to him?   It will remain a mystery.
He’s great w other dogs.  But, he hates to be touched or picked up.  He loves Sunny here.  Sunny is blind, too. (One of our PVPC alumni ❤️.)
Mo Mo is in a fabulous, very experienced foster home.  Bonnie is working w Mo Mo but we’ve decided to keep him in foster care permanently.  We just don’t think he can be adopted.
He is starting Prozac to see if that helps.   He’s happy in his own way and we know we can’t fix everything.   So he can just be cared for where he is.   His foster home is so loving and knows how to care for one like him.
Rescue isn’t always easy.  We sometimes have to make hard decisions.  But Mo Mo can just live his life the best he can w care and love.   Thank you Bonnie for all you’re doing.

FAREWELL CASH

Cashew came into rescue in spring of 2022.   He was in a shelter near me.
He was in their foster program and asked us to take him.  His foster parents were so loving and stayed in touch when he came to PVPC.
The shelter thought he was 6-7 years old.   He was a stray, so we didn't know, but he wasn't an old boy.
Rita, one of our adopters and helpers, fostered Cashew.  He was a sweetheart.
His foster mom adopted him.   He had some medical concerns and she decided he would be hers forever.   They went to Florida for the winter and met friends, China Doll and Machi (who just went to the Rainbow Bridge).   It was fun living near another PVPC member.
Cash's health caused some concerns.  His liver levels weren't normal.
He also had some heart issues.   That's unusual for one so young-- maybe he was older.  It's hard to know when we get them with an unknown background.

His mom sent me this email:  "Sad news, yesterday my little man lost his battle with liver cancer.  He certainly gave it a good fight and continued to be his sweet self to the very end."
Even when we know that their lives may be shorter than we hoped for, it's still so difficult to lose them.
Run free, precious boy.   So many met you when you arrived.  💙

FAREWELL MY SISSY

Sissy came into rescue with the Potomac Six in November of 2020.
She was confused but her life was about to be so much better.
She and Bogie were adopted together before Christmas.  But they were returned in early January.   They said Sissy just sat at the window, waiting for me to come back.   💔.   I found a home for Bogie but Sissy stayed.  She needed to stay here.  I guess she decided she had been through enough change.
She was a quiet sweet member of our home.
Tuk Tuk adored her.
Did he think she was his mama?   She was definitely the mama dog here.  She let all the dogs know if they were out of line.   They never were but she was still the boss.  ❤️. If the others walked too close to her bed, she let them know.  She never bit them, but they knew who was in charge.
Sissy was so docile w me.  She didn’t have a mean bone in her body.  She let me hold her like a baby.
She would curl up next to me at night.
I have beds all over the house.  I didn’t realize how many she used until she died.  So many are unused now.  It makes the loss of her more profound.
Sissy had a bad seizure five months ago.  She was 14-15 and I knew it meant she probably had a brain tumor.  (Epilepsy begins at a younger age.).
She went on a trip w me so I could watch her carefully.
She wasn’t a great traveler- it scared her.  Was she afraid I’d leave her?
I never would have.  She was my girl.  Happy.  Smiling.
She began having micro seizures and lost bladder control.  Little fluffy butt diapers helped.
She was better as long as I was close.
She was having seizures every two weeks.  Then they got closer.  The four meds helped but didn’t eliminate them.
Most of the time, she was fine. She ate well, was loving.  She was such a good girl.
But then, she had a little seizure. And then she began having seizure after seizure.  I texted my vet and she was waiting.   I had given emergency meds here, she got more at the vet.  And more.  But the brain tumor must have grown and there was nothing that could stop them.   It was time.
Sissy was a wonderful and loyal friend.  I was so lucky to have loved her almost three years.  She was my girl.   I miss you, little one.  Run free. 💖

FAREWELL MACHI

MACHI
Precious Machi was Margie's sweet boy.
His dad passed away and he needed a place to finish life well.
He was 16 years old at the time-- in July 2020.
He became best friends with China Doll.
It was hard for me to tell them apart.  Margie said China Doll had a full  face.
A mama knows these things.   ðŸ’•
If you spotted one, you found the other.
And they kept a close eye on their mom.
Even bathrooms had to have room for all of them.
Machi turned 19 this summer.  That's amazing!
Machi let Margie know he was tired.  He was ready.  But, we never are.
So, China Doll said good bye to her friend.
Margie held Machi as they said good-bye-- he gazed into her eyes, total trust, total love.
Run free, little one.  💙
