Must Love Pekes is a blog for those who love Pekingese -- their looks, their antics, their personalities. It is written by me, Linda, and I have been rescuing Pekingese for over 22 years. Lots of them have come through our home. We have loved them all.

GRACEY—WELCOME
Another rescue contacted me about a one year old female Peke. But she was in Ohio! Way out of our area. HOWEVER I had a friend who lived 30 minutes away from her. How amazing is that. She offered to get her and see how she was. They have adopted quite a few Pekes from us over the years. (They had adopted before I began so I already knew what awesome adopters they were.) They recently adopter Emmi who has behavior and heart issues. And they love her so much. They still have Piper who I fostered a long time ago. He’s an old boy now but he’s fine w Gracey. Gracey has been to the vet and is being updated on all she needs. AND Gracey isn’t going anywhere. They already love her and are adopting her. Gracey will have a wonderful life! 💕

HOLLY — CUDDLER, PLAYER
Holly is one of the Christmas rescue Pekes. Look at that tongue. It’s not like that all the time. 😄One of her friends is Jellybean. He’s a cuddler, too. He came in w Snickerdoodle.
All of them love to play w each other. Rolling around, racing in the yard. It’s a happy place. Holly will “sit pretty.” That’s Brock w her. He was one of the West Virginia 6. They are such good friends. And like the rest, Holly needs a friend. If you’re interested, just submit an application.

NOELLE VISITS THE OPHTHALMOLOGIST
Noelle has come a long way. She has her mini-me. She is so happy in her foster home. She will need a very patient, quiet home so she can learn that she is safe and loved as she adjusts to a new home. It takes her time to get used to new people. But, at her foster home, she’s discovered toys, loves to run around. She’s become very secure there.
She saw the ophthalmologist this week and w her meds, her sight is improving. If you are interested in her, she must have a doggy friend. She would love to have one of her Christmas rescue friends to go w her.
We adopt in Maryland and Virginia and require home and vet checks. We want the best homes for our precious foster dogs.

LOUIE AND LADY
Louie came into rescue in 2011. Lady came to us in 2021.
Katie was Louie’s sister. They were adopted together. When she crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Louie was the only dog. When Lady came into rescue in 2021, I knew she would be a wonderful sister for Louie. She was older but still had a lot of life left.

A DAY AT CAMP RUNAMUCK
Most days at Camp Runamuck begin w coffee time on the couch. I’m never alone. I have great company. Cinnamon and Mistletoe love being on the couch. Dickens may be playing w toys but he wanders over to me to be on the couch too. Callie gets up there, Paddington and Cinnamon join us.
Piper is on my lap. We went into the kitchen and oh did they get vocal. “Where’s breakfast?”

After breakfast and a trip outside, they’re all ready for another nap. Dickens tries to go up the ramp. And sometimes, he succeeds. Now for another cup of coffee. ☕️☕️

BARBARA’S CREW
Barbara has been part of our rescue for over ten years. On top of fostering, she takes care of our money. She is our treasurer. I’m so thankful for her.
She fostered and adopted Denver. This is him when I got him from the shelter. The top picture is him now. This is Rosie. She came to us and Barbara took her until we found a foster home. She was adopted but it didn’t work out. What we didn’t realize is that Rosie had already chosen Barbara. She wasn’t happy because she missed her. She’s now w Barbara and Ty forever. And that’s just where she wants to be. Travis was in a shelter near me. He was almost 17. He was blind. His owners took him to the shelter and the shelter called me. I visited w him in a room and he kept trying to go to the door. He wanted out of there. He wasn’t finished living. So off we went. Travis is almost 18 now. He sleeps a lot. But he’s enjoying his life. He’s loved and secure. Last is DeeGee. She was in a shelter and was a mess. She needed help so we stepped up. She had all her medical done at my vet and then off she went to her forever home. She is so loved. Absolutely cherished. Barbara home is a wonderful place to be. 🏠

HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY
☘️
I did a little stroll down memory lane. Snuffles and Schmoo have dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day for awhile. So I went back to look at their pictures. Snuffles is adorable. I love this one! I’m not Irish (that I know of) but it’s still a fun day. Pots of gold (still looking), rainbows (I’ve seen those) and leprechauns. That would be something to see. This year, I’m glad I can look at Schmoo and Snuffles.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️
