ZOEY

Meet Zoey. She just arrived in rescue.

She came to us from a shelter after they sent us a plea to save her life. They are a small shelter with little money and they said those with medical issues have a high euthanasia rate-- and this little girl needed someone to help her.

She only 1 1/2 to 2 years old-- very young and she has been bred several times. Probably every heat. She developed some problems because of that and needs surgery. It couldn't happen in the shelter.

Don't let her sad look fool you-- this is one joyful, happy girl!

She waited patiently for the vet to come in and check her out. She only weighs about 13 pounds, but needs to gain some. We are feeding her puppy food to help her regain her health and fill her body with nutrients.

While we waited, she decided to be a mountain goat-- I mean Peke-- and climb on the back rest between the seats.

She appears to be house trained and is great with her home's 3 year old child. She loves other dogs and is playing and enjoying her life. She'll be ready for adoption soon!!

FAREWELL CHEWY

I fostered Chewy early in my experience of fostering rescue dogs. He was a little beauty and here he was trying to ride a skateboard. As he got older, he had an enlarged heart and began to have trouble breathing. He was such a good boy and his mom and dad did not want him to live that way. When he stopped eating, they knew it was time to let him go. You will be missed so much. Rest in peace, sweet Chewy.

ZEKE ADOPTED

Can you handle another adoption!! Yahoo!!! Zeke is now in his forever home-- and has been awhile. His foster parents are keeping him-- they just can't let him go. FOSTER FAILURE week! :-)

CUBBIE WOO FOR PRESIDENT

Cubbie Woo wants to be president, so he made up his own poster. :-)
Gracie Lu said she wants to help and she posted this comment: "Hey everybody! It's me Gracie Lu and I am seriously considering volunteering as Cubbie Woo's Campaign Manager. With that combination, we can't help but win. Remember us in 2012. GO CUBBIE!!!!! "

Gracie continued, "Everybody thinks it is a great ticket. Maybe Starlight or Sassy Marie could be VP. A cat named Baby Girl from Florida has volunteered as Campaign Manager for that state."

DOLLAR ADOPTED

Dollar loves hugs from his new mom-- he just lays his head on her shoulder and sighs with happiness!!
Another foster failure. :-) Dollar's foster mom and dad have adopted him. He had some behavior issues, but Dollar trusts them now. His new mom is completely in love with him. She said, "He is so much fun to train. He loves to play fetch and jump through his hoop and he makes a really great guard Pekingese! No one gets close when he is in attack mode! He puts himself in his xpen each night for dinner and of course lets himself out when he is done. He loves our other dogs and is the first one to play with the new fosters. If only I could get him over his fear based people aggression he would be perfect." We're so glad Dollar has his owner forever home!!!

COSME ADOPTED

Announcing the adoption of Cosme Mo Ming (whose name means Cosme indescribable).

He has been adopted by .... his foster parents!

They couldn't live without the joy and love he brings to them.

GRACIE MCGHEE ADOPTED

Gracie came from a "back yard breeder" and was so timid. She didn't even have a name. Jeanne named her Gracie McGhee. I love it! At Jeanne's, she learned to trust and not be so afraid. She learned she was very lovable and that she was cared for.

She's been adopted and her new family loves her.

Notice that she wears her tags all the time-- that is so important! Some people take tags/collars off if they're inside. But, what happens if they somehow get out-- and they have no i.d. Even with a microchip, it delays them getting home.

This is Bob the Bassett. He showed up in my yard last week-- three times! He had a tag on with his address. It turned out that his family moved in a few houses down from me-- and I was able to walk him home. They were putting in a new fence and Bob figured out my house was fun to come to so that he could visit with the dogs in my yard. Bob is a sweet dog! But, he needed to go home.

Gracie's new mom adores her. She said she enjoys her walks, the family room couch and sleeping in the bed.

Her new friend is George the Springer Spaniel. They are becoming best friends. Her owners just love her and are so happy she's part of her family. We are, too!
