DUBLIN UPDATE

 Jeanne and I are running into ourselves again, so please excuse me for not giving you an update on Dublin!   (We have been working on saving two in a gassing shelter and one other who was being put down.)   He had his surgery and he is back with his foster mom.    He had two incisions on his back and is now resting in a playpen.    This helps him to feel he's part of the family, but limits his mobility so that he can heal.    He has his bed, his  newspaper/piddle pad and food and water.   And he has lots of love!

 Trevor came to visit him and encourage him.    Trevor was adopted from us-- what a sweet boy.    I'm sure he'll visit Dublin a lot to let him know he has a good friend there.

Dublin is able to go outside for short breaks and he has a great appetite.    Now, he's ready for a nap-- on his back!     Don't rub those stitches, sweet boy. :-)

TOBY THE PUPPY

Toby came into rescue last week.    He had been in two homes already and neither of them took care of him.    He had a collar so tight on his neck that I didn't realize it was there.

At the vet, they said he was 5-6 months old because of his puppy teeth.   

He had ear mites and a double ear infection, but those are being taken care of now.     He will be neutered in October when he is six months old.

He was at my house for a bit before his foster mom picked him up.   You can see his hair was cut off and it is very coarse-- good nutrition will fix that.

He loved my gang here, but I could not foster him since I already have too many here.    He'll have fun at his foster home though.  Odin is there.

JEANNE'S COMPUTER

Jeanne does all our web site and facebook, intake of applications, and many other things.     Her computer completely died and we are working on a replacement computer for her.    If you don't receive replies, it is because of this.   Once she has a computer, she will catch up.

CHARLIE BEAR

 Charlen Bear came into rescue from a Maryland shelter.     He was not in great health, but he is now!    

His foster mom says he gets sweeter every day.     His coat is coming in because of a good diet.  

 He has one eye, but that doesn't hinder him.    Many of us have one-eyed Pekes.   Just don't throw the toy on their "blind side" or you will go get it.

 He has become friends with Cheech and Jelly, his two foster brothers.   He has even helped Jelly to become more confident which is wonderful!   

Charlie likes to be brushed and will even let you brush his tail if you are gentle.   He likes to roll over and expose his tummy for a belly rub.    He has learned gentleness can come from a human  hand.      If you would like to adopt Charlie, just email us at potomacpekes@gmail.com.   

FAREWELL SHARK

 Shark came into rescue from a Maryland shelter in 2009.   We thought he was about five years old, so he should have had many years to live.   We tried to change his name to Clark, but he would have none of that, so Shark it stayed.

 Shark was adopted to a wonderful family in Richmond-- they had boys and Shark adored them.

Shark began to have trouble yesterday (Wednesday) morning and they rushed him to the doctor.   They did many tests on him, but he died of cardiac arrest today.   The vet said he had a lung issue that affected his heart.   His family is so saddened by his sudden death.     Our hearts go out to them.   Rest in peace, sweet Shark.
