TARA--POST SURGERY

Tara came into rescue last week and her foster moms, Kay and Claretta, quickly realized something was very wrong.   It seems in rescue, we get the most critical.   (Our foster homes have a lot of experience, and can do a quick accessment and find out a lot right away.   After years of fostering, we have learned a lot.)
She was the happiest girl!  She didn't realize something was very wrong.
There appeared to be two huge hernias and she was taken to a specialist right away.   It was too big for the regular vet to take care of.
She had her surgery yesterday and her entire small intestines, her uterus and her spleen were contained in a huge hernia-- it wasn't two hernias, but one massive one.   She had been in danger of her intestines being "strangled" if the surgery wasn't done quickly.
She stayed at the vet after surgery and may be able to come to her foster home today.  She will have a long recovery, 3-4 months to make sure the surgery site heals well and then this sweet girl will be ready for adoption.   If you are interested in her, please fill out an application on our web site:
