A TUK TUK SATURDAY.

Tuk Tuk will be six months old soon.   He’s growing up. 😳
He likes to veg a lot—he’s really thinking of more things to get into.
We see you!   He’s coming into himself.  Growing up.  Hormones!   Granger and Gigi say,”get this boy neutered!”  ðŸ¤£
He loves to stretch out.   His puppy hair is leaving and a soft smoother coat is coming in.  His head hair is still poofy.
He loves his family.  They hold him and rock him and sing to him.  He’s a spoiled puppy ❤️

OSCAR A MONTH LATER

Oscar is a Shih Tzu-- not our breed.  But, we were asked to help and we did.
He is in NC with a friend.   He was very sick for awhile, and is now better.
He's still nervous about being handled-- but it was time for another bath and some trim.  He wasn't too sure about it.   His eyes.  💓  He's young and has an entire life ahead of him.
Look at those eyes.   There's a sweetness in there.
He just got prettier.
And look at his smile.
His new name is Duncan and I think that's adorable.  (Oscar was his shelter name.)   He will need a patient adopter.  If you're interested, you can email haveninhim@aol.com and I can give you information.   Vet and home checks are required.   Heartworm preventative is a requirement.   He can be adopted in the NC/VA/MD area.

SWEET STITCH

Stitch came to us in 2009 when he was a year old.  He was in a shelter because he family could not take care of him.
Kim fostered him and he became great friends with Clarence.
He was a big boy when we got him and got up to 21 pounds.  Not fat, just big!
I don't have new pictures of him, but I know he's just as cute at 13.
His mom wrote me to say he has some health concerns, but he's still happy and loving.  We hope she has a lot more time with him.   Kisses to you, sweet Stitch.

SISSY’S EYE APPOINTMENT

Sissy injured her eye Friday so we went to the vet first and then to the ophthalmologist.
I meant to just take Sissy.  She’s the only one who had an appointment.   But, Bogie wanted to go. 🤦‍♀️  And then Zoey just KNEW I was going somewhere.  She started dancing.  She must have an inner radar that knows if I’m leaving.  She starts bouncing and being cute.  So, what could I do??  Could you leave her home?  That’s what I thought.  I couldn’t either. 🤣
We waited for Dr. Nadelstein to come in.  Zoey, you’re going the wrong way.
She didn’t care.
When Dr. Nadelstein came in, Bogie was overjoyed.  Bogie loves the world. He made such a fuss that Dr. Nadelstein picked him up as he began to look at Sissy.  Then, he put Bogie in the table, too.  I said we needed a frequent flyer card.  You know. Ten visits and get one free.  Since Bogie was on the table, he looked at his eyes, too.  He said they were looking great.  (I guess I did get a free check up after all!).
Sissy thought that was funny.  He told me Sissy had a bad, deep, infected corneal ulcer last Friday.  But, she has made a lot of improvement.  I can now sleep through the night and give the eye meds four times a day.   Well, I sleep about 9 hours so I’ll still add in one when my husband wakes up and then I go back to sleep  ☺️

Sissy is doing well.  The techs love them both.  They ADORE Bogie.  And they couldn’t believe how much Sissy had changed.  They remembered the terrified dog they first met when she came into rescue.  She just kept smiling and making sure I was close.  She is probably older than we thought because of her eye age.  The lens change as they get older.  It’s okay.  She’s a sweetheart.   We go back in two weeks for a recheck unless something changes.   She was happy to come home.  It was a busy morning.

SISSY AND EYE ULCERS.

Sissy, and Bogie, have been with me since late October-- over 9 months.
She and Bogie love each other-- Bogie has more energy since he is younger.
My fosters-- so cute.  Bogie, Zoey and Sissy.
I love this view.
Sissy has fought ear infections since she came into rescue.   We have done a lot to help her-- now we begin on a new, more refined diet to see if that helps.
Some fosters just have more "determined" issues.    But, it doesn't get in the way of how loving she is.   She has decided she needs to sleep by my head.
With her ear issues, I didn't expect an eye issues.
We don't know what happened-- Pekes have no nose in front of their eyes to protect them.  A nose is kind of like a radar and without it, the eyes can get hurt.    Eyes can get scratched by anything-- sticks on the ground, a busy, playful activity.  And then bacteria can enter so fast and cause a bigger problem.  Sissy already had an infection starting.
She was suddenly squinting late Thursday evening.   We went to the vet on Friday morning and I still felt uneasy.   So, I called the ophthalmologist and they fit us in.   (I'm so fortunate that we have three offices in our area that see eye issues.)
Sissy received a new med plus pain meds and she received drops every hour for the first six hours and then every four hours for five days.    (I learned to use my iphone timer-- LOL.  Desperation makes us learn new things.)
She is squinting less and holding her eye open.   We have a recheck today.
I'll let you know how her recheck goes.  I expect good news.

DOLLY SAYS HI

Dolly came to us from a shelter.  She is the one whose home was broken into and after that, she became very protective of her family.   They didn't want that and turned her into the shelter-- for her second time.
She is a lot like our Starlight-- super devoted to family and those she trust.   Starlight would have done awful in a shelter.   But, she was one of our best dogs.
Dolly likes her dad-- other men, not so much.  But, she is learning that people are good and she can relax.  I'm so glad her mom and dad adopted her.  They knew she needed a special home.
She loves her new home where he is protected as she needs to be.  She loves walks with her dad.
Pekingese like Dolly are special and she got the best place to live the rest of her life!  💜💜

JELLY SAYS HAPPY SUNDAY

Jelly came into rescue years ago. He had a rough life but now he lives in Florida and has a mom who adores him. He was very timid but knows he is safe.
Jelly had health scares but now he’s feeling so much better.  We think he’s about 13 now.   He’s taking it easy today.  Not a bad idea!!   We should all do the same.  HAPPY SUNDAY!
