FAREWELL ELVIS

 If you have followed my blog for awhile, you may remember Elvis from 2011.

 He came to us as a very sick dog-- he had a mass in his stomach, so we didn't think he would make it.   Surgery was performed and a 1.3 pound mass of hair, metal and grass/weeds was pulled from his stomach.   He was eating anything he could to survive.   He was safe once we got him.

 He wasn't a young boy, but he was full of love and we loved watching him thrive.  

 His story captured the heart of a couple who lived near me, and I had the pleasure of doing their home check.   I just loved them!   It feels so good to get an application that is wonderful, full of information and the home check proves what a great home it will be.  

 He was adopted and went on to live five years full of love with them.  

His mom and dad were so grateful to have him for the time he was there.   They will truly miss him.    Our hearts are with them, as they live without their sweet boy.   Run free now, Elvis!!  You were loved by many.

KASEY ADOPTED

 Kasey came into rescue in April.  He came from a rural shelter.  

 Oh, those eyes.   He is such a sweetheart!

 He had to have ACL surgery and was in an xpen for recovery.  He needed to not move around a  lot so that he could heal well.

 Oh, the trauma! :-)    I hate isolating a dog recovering (even if they are in the same room!), but sometimes, it is necessary.   (I think we foster parents suffer right along with them!)

 All the while, he was working himself into his foster daddy's heart.

 Kasey became very attached to him-- and it went both ways.   I think he's smiling here!

 He has a 13 (almost 14!) year old sister named Charley.

 And his brother is Melrose, also adopted from us.

 Kasey is one happy boy now that he has a forever home.

Foster failures happen-- I have four here!   I think Kasey and his dad are a perfect fit!   (His mom loves him, too-- but sometimes a Peke will choose his favorite person and Kasey has done just that!)

JOLENE

 This little girl was in a Maryland shelter.   I didn't know she was there, but on Friday, I received a call asking if I could help.    A rescue person was there (who I know has done Pug rescue).  She was there to pick up another dog, and she saw this one.  

 Jolene was a very neglected, over-used breeder dog who was "no longer useful" and she ended up in a shelter.  My friend asked the rescue person at the shelter if we could help to pull this little girl.   Since I know the shelter well, and it was an on the spot need, I said we could help be the go-between to get this little one to safety.

 As you can see, she's in pretty bad shape.   We've had dogs like this in our rescue, and we can help them.   They just need medical attention, time, good nutrition and lots of love.

 Darla, my friend, took her home and gave her a soothing bath.  The shelter had already given her an Advantage to get rid of all the fleas.   The fleas alone can cause the tremendous hair loss.   Imagine being that itchy!

 She is now clean, has good food to eat, and will be with rescue friends of PVPC.   We love being able to help these dogs, even if we aren't the fosters.   And working with other rescues can mean more are saved.

Welcome to a new life, Jolene!!  It only gets better from here on!

PANDA 2

A few weeks ago, I received a phone call.   Someone had given my number out and there was a Peke in need. (I do prefer that you ask my permission before doing this.) The owner had gone into a nursing home and a neighbor was taking care of the dog.  

When I heard she was black and white, I knew who to call.   A friend of mine had adopted Koko almost 2 years ago and Koko was later diagnosed with IMHA, which my Lexie also had.   After Koko died, her mom and dad missed her so much.    I called them about this little black and white Peke.

They immediately set up plans to get her the next day--

They brought her to visit on Friday and I was able to meet this small, curious, adorable, sweet, beautiful girl!!  

She got along with all mine-- tried to explore the yard and look in the window.

We sat on my porch and she observed the back yard-- squirrels are entertaining!  My Max thought she was a beauty!

Panda is a wonderful girl-- and she LOVES her new daddy!!   She took one leap and was in his lap!

I'm so glad our rescue could be the bridge for her to get to her new home!!   Welcome Panda!!

PANDA

It's simple Sunday-- so here's your picture.   This is Panda, and I'll do a blog on her tomorrow!!  Isn't she cute!

BELLA ANN

Bella came into rescue last year and was adopted by a previous adopter.   She has taken over the house and is so loved there.   She has great talents!   Bella made her bed!! She had been laying on top of the pillow but when her mom put her back up on the bed, she went over to the pillow and started "digging" to make the bed. Then she started pushing the pillow up and got underneath it. And this is how she ended up!

It's amazing how talented these Pekes are!  

 She also knows how to get the toilet paper off the roll.   HMM, I think I've seen this talent in my house.

I think she's trying to cover herself up!   

It's better to just get back in bed and cover up with the real thing-- a blanket!!

SHELBY-- BIG GIRL!

 Shelby is one of Jeanne's fosters, but while Jeanne is getting treatment, Shelby is with Jeanne's vet and friends.   Shelby was SO proud of herself!  She climbed these stairs all by herself!

 I used this picture a few weeks ago, but just had to use it again.   Shelby is taking over the house and is Rich's lap dog.   They have King Charles Cavaliers, so Shelby is a bit different and definitely smaller.

 She has been wearing little shirts to keep her from itching, but having a vet as your daddy is a big plus!   He could watch every reaction to new things and has gotten her skin condition under control.   Yahoo!!  Skin issues can be SO difficult to deal with, not know if it's environmental or food related, or both.   (I have two allergy dogs here and it's a constant battle.)

He began using PhytoVetSil antiseptic shampoo and an anti microbial condition spray after her whey protein rinse.  (She is bathed every third day.)   Wow, can I go there!  Sounds like a spa treatment!  She also get Genta Spray Topical on stray itchy spots, but she almost never scratches now.   A little pred every other day has done the trick and is really helping her.   She has environmental allergies, and feels a lot better.    I know she misses Jeanne, but she can visit any time!    Thank you Charee and Rich for caring for these sweet girl!!
