KAI KAI AND DRILL BIT

I told you that we went to the farm several weeks ago. All the dogs piled into the car. Scooter was ready for an adventure!

Kai Kai was sound asleep on the box -- I put this picture in before. This dog can sleep in the oddest positions! We were taking up a big "dizzy swing" for the grandkids. Good thing we have a mini-van!

Max was curled up on a blanket on the floor-- Starlight and Cranberry were in the van also, but they declined having their picture taken.

Three of the "Bits" live at the farm. Drill Bit (with Bitty Bit in the background) is a boy-- all boy.

Now could he get into any trouble-- Jeanne, I'm asking you. :-) Jeanne adores my grandson!

Look at that sweet face-- he couldn't do anything wrong. Right?
NOT!

When I go to the farm, I take an xpen for the dogs. They are very comfortable, with blankets, toys, beds, water. They aren't suffering at all.

And they were clean when we went there. But, Drill Bit came into the room. He spotted his mom's seed trays. Oh, no. Can you see it coming?

He threw one of those seed trays and all the dirt into the xpen. Why, I have no idea. I had two sisters, I had two daughters-- what are boys? How do they think?

Starlight got the worst of it. Did it bother her? No.

I think Kai was out of range, comfortable on the pink bed. Can we go home now, Mom? :-) When we got home, everyone had another bath! Oh, while I was cleaning up the dirt, Drill Bit went into the bathroom and emptied the dog water bowl in there-- on to the floor. He's faster than I can keep up with!

PADDINGTON AND AMELIA AND THE FLOWERS

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Paddington and Amelia's mom planted flowers the other day-- and they helped. She bought the flowers from our link on Flower Power.
http://www.flowerpowerfundraising.com/campaign?campaign_id=7519

Amelia was a wonderful supervisor-- is that some grass in your mouth, little girl? I know you were making sure it was fresh.

She was a constant help, testing the flowers beds to be sure they were muddy enough.

Paddington shirked all his gardening duties for a snooze in his bed on the stoop. But, Amelia stuck with the job until it was done! Amelia has a lot of nicknames: Mimi/Meemer/Monkey Pants. Mine have nicknames, too.

It was a tiring job, Paddington. You helped some, and then it was time for a break-- we all understand that. :-)

PICNIC--BIJOU

Meet Bijoy. He was at the picnic and he was dressed up like the Royal Guard!

Bijoy is a certified therapy dog and his speciality is helping those who are hearing impaired.

He has a special vest that says, "DON'T PET ME, I'M WORKING."

His other badge says he's certified for Heaing Impaired.

Bijou has a passport! He can go anywhere in the main part of the airplane. He doesn't have to go through any quarantine because of his special certification.

I was so glad to meet this sweet Peke at our picnic. He is a beautiful boy!

PICNIC!! Kai and Liam

Kai (Kyden) went to the picnic. I left the rest at home, because they wouldn't have done well on that long of a trip (four hours each way). But, Kai Kai came. He was relaxed in the car-- just like yesterday's picture showed.

Kai is a very red Pekingese. Sallie told me it was called Chun Red, a very rare color. In fact, he about the same color at Liam, Dian's Setter. I decided that they needed their pictures taken together.

Liam was not very impressed with his tiny "cousin."

"Hey, little buddy." Kai wasn't bothered at all by Liam's size and they are both great dogs. Liam is only 9 months old, but so well behaved.

Kai, I think we need to teach you a few things, but for now, I'm glad we were able to get you two together. You are both beautiful!

PICNIC!! PART 2

Kai-Kai went to the picnic-- he can get really relax in the car!

Carter came, too. I couldn't get him to pose for me, but he was very sweet and wanted to talk to everyone.

RB/Arby was there-- she was one of the Bristol 18 dogs. She looked wonderful!

Lacy and her mom were there. She and Lafite, her brother, had a great time at the picnic.

Danny (who wouldn't look at the camera) was adopted by a foster family at the picnic (don't worry, we had already approved them). We were so happy for Danny to have his own new family.

Katrina, now Penny, (another one of the Bristol 18) was there and looking great. I didn't get a picture of her sister. I wish I had!

Little Cocoa was there, too. Look at her beautiful face. I hope she gets a Peke brother or sister soon. :-) (I love for our great adopters to adopt more.)

Beth, one of our foster moms, was there with Cosme and Teddy. I'm so glad they foster with us-- they're a great part of our Hampton Roads team.

Binky was adopted last month and he was there, too. It's such a joy for us to see our foster dogs doing so well and being loved so much.

There were Pekingese all over-- so many! It was so much fun. More on the picnic tomorrow! To see Jon's pictures, go to: http://jonbarrettphoto.smugmug.com/Dogs/2011-PVPC-Picnic/16857858_VdvBc9

PICNIC!! Part 1

The PVPC annual picnic was last Saturday. I've never seen so many Pekingese in one place. There were more Pekes than people! Above are two of our newest fosters-- Gizmo (to be called something else, since we have so many Gizmos!) and Toby.

This is Missy-- she had pink ear tips when she came into rescue. She is really a daddy's girl! Boy, does she love her daddy.

Every dog at the picnic was giving a toy. Sallie's grandchildren helped with this. I didn't get their pictures, but they were wonderful helpers! We hope they come back next year.

The dogs enjoyed their toys-- but they also had some of their own, like Lacy, who brought her own special toy.

Jimmie Cocoa did not want to be my friend that day, but I still got his picture. :-) HI, JIMMIE!

Here are Cinnamon and Joshua. I fostered Joshua and considered keeping him. My Scooter and Joshua were great friends. His parents are wonderful and stay in touch with me-- I love that!

I think this little one's name is Lady Vixen. Her markings are stunning! She really caught my eye.

And here is Ciara-- she was trying to help me take the picture! It meant I didn't get a good picture of her. She was in a shelter and I referred one of our applicants to go see her-- and they adopted her, which meant she went right to a home instead of coming into rescue first. They might want to adopt a friend for her!

Here is Wiley-- he was a real mess when he came into rescue, thin, not much hair, a sad looking boy. You can't even tell that this is the same dog! His parents have done an absolutely incredible job with him. (They were also one of the couple who won our "unsung hero" award at the picnic, as they now foster for us.)

Dian, our treasurer, has some beautiful Pekes-- and a Corgi and a Red Setter named Liam. (I'll do more on Liam in another blog.)

Here are her three Pekes-- they are so well trained and just adorable.

I'll do another blog tomorrow with more picnic pictures. If you weren't there, I hope you can come next year!!

OLIVE, THE PEKE'S FRIEND

I want to give you a dog food warning first. Kai Kai, my foster dog (above) needed to try a sensitive stomach food. So, I bought what I thought was a good one-- well, it's on this list and so I'll be switching. Check out this article and list to see if your dog's food is on it. (Some cat foods are also listed.) http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/the-fda-four.html +++++++++++ And now on to the blog for today:

Here are all of Tina's dogs-- I love this picture of them by the water!

Teddy wants you to know he also has a Papillion sister named Olive. She was in the blog the other day. She was also a puppy mill survivor.

Look at them all-- aren't they cute! Teddy's little tilt of his head just makes me want to give him a big hug!

They were all ready for Christmas in this picture and the one below. And Tina got them all to sit for a picture! (They may have been thinking, "Why am I on this bench!?")

And Teddy and Jaxson are just waiting to rub those hats off, I bet! You are all beautiful dogs! Your mom sure takes good care of you. I'm so glad she shared pictures with me, so everyone could meet you!
