FAREWELL PRINCESS KENT

Princess Kent came into rescue in the fall of 2017.
The shelter said she was 17 years old, but we're not sure of her real age.   Her owner had turned her into a shelter.
Jackie immediately went to get her and Princess has another 2+ years to live with love and luxury.
She had comfy blankets (one made by her foster mom) and a warm fire for cold days.  She loved that little fireplace!
She loved her foster dad so much-- he could do anything.
She had to have fluids every other day and Bill would hold her while she reclined in his arms to get her treatment.
She had her own little carry bag when they visited the beach last year.   Princess was an old girl, but she lived longer because of the care she received.  Last night, it appeared that she had a stroke and she declined quickly.  She was cuddled between her foster parents when she passed away peacefully.
Princess was a lucky one-- one of those seniors dogs who are turned into shelters and who come into rescue to live our their days.  And she did LIVE!   Run free now, sweet girl.  You left paw prints on our hearts.

As is common with any loss, the loss of a Peke baby is always sad but the stories of rescues for both the elderly and the sick that end with a loving foster or adoptive parents who extend every possible act to make these little Pekes feel safe and happy as well as healed from long time health problems.

Each one of those rescued leave an empty and aching place in our hearts. The rescuers, the fosters and the lucky adopters do everything possible to show them what life for them is supposed to be. The fact that it happens toward the end of their years takes on extra meaning because it helps to erase on of the bad times they have suffered for one reason or the other.

One of the reasons I love Linda Maxwell's rescues is that she and her family make every possible effort to give love and care to those Pekes who are very ill or simply too old to adopt out. We know all of those Pekes by name and condition that live with Linda and that's such a blessing for those of us who are unable to take in more Pekes for reasons of health or financial condition,

We are lucky to know Linda and her rescue crew who strive to keep the rescue strong by working constantly to keep funds available for the treatment and care of these beautiful gifts from above.

Thank a rescuer as often as possible.
