Fancy came into rescue almost a year ago. Remember, she belonged to a homeless woman and was living in a car. Fancy was traumatized and we don't know what she went through. She was very unstable, ready to defend herself against everyone. She was terrified.
Lisa slowly worked with her and Fancy VERY slowly began to trust her.
One day, Fancy was sitting with Lisa, her foster mom. They were facing each other and Fancy has her front paws on Lisa's shoulder. Lisa asked her, "do you want to go to bed?" Fancy put one of her paws on Lisa's mouth. Coincidence? She asked her again, "do you want to go to bed?" Fancy put her paw up again! Fancy was playing with her! It was so precious, and Lisa laughed out loud with the joy of it. (Paisley is with Fancy.)
Fancy wasn't so sure when they got in the car last week to go to the vet.
Cars don't represent good things to her, but she watched Lisa-- trusting her.
She even relaxed a little. It is a huge step for a dog who was so traumatized.
Fancy has come a very long way in the past year. She will remain with Lisa as a permanent foster. She is a precious little girl who is overcoming all she went through. She is safe now. 💖

That poor little girl. It's comforting to know that she has reached someone who cares and that is a steadying influence for her. I've walked that path with my Bandit an he has come a long way from his terrors but I'm here to reach out in support him.
