Bellamy was listed on craigslist for free. He was an unneutered YOUNG Peke and that could mean trouble. Free dogs on craigslist can be used as bait dogs, can be used for breeding studs, can have a life that they should never have. I don't agree with craigslist postings of dogs-- but I can't change that.
Fortunately, someone got him and then contacted us. Wonderful!!!
He lost his eye after an attack by a larger dog and the owners probably didn't want to spend any more money on him.
He is small-- 9-10 pounds-- and about 1 1/2 years old, very young. He loves to snuggle and be close by. He has no problem with stairs. ZIPS right up them!
Don't let his small size fool you though. He is FAST. So, we will not adopt him to anyone who can't assure his safety from open doors or an unsecure yard. Bellamy could shoot out a door so fast, and you would have a really difficult time catching him.
His journey to freedom with us was with multiple transporters-- Lisa and Ida were helping, and so was Monica, who kept him overnight on the first leg of the trip. Thank you all!!
Lisa fell in love-- so did everyone else.
He has been shaved down, but I know his coat will come in soft and beautiful.
If you are interested, you can fill out an application. Due to his small size, remember, he can never be outside alone-- he is small enough to be "hawk bait." I had an owl and a hawk try to get several of my dogs, so this is very serious. We are working on house training and having his medical updated. (Do not apply if you live outside of the Virginia/Maryland area. We require a vet check and a home check.)

I am doing my adoption dance right now for little Bellamy !
Doing a Bellamy Adoption Dance here in Southwest Virginia. And a curse upon puppy mills and fans of dog fights. And a bigger curse on those filled with avarice for that almighty dollar at the cost of God's wonderful creation and gift to us.
So glad you got him. I got my current Pekingese out of a newspaper ad when he was 6 months old. He is now 14 years old. I still watch the newspaper ads and Craigslist for any Pekingese advertised. I wouldn’t be able to keep another one but I would get the Pekingese and give it to you guys to find a home for it.
Lost Earring .... I think "Unknown" is joining us in the dance too.... lets hope it works!!!
