CHRISTMAS SAFETY

Christmas is just about here.  Many of us have decorations all over.    We need to remember these little dogs we have and how to keep them safe.    (It also helps if you have grandkids like Beach Bit around!)
Jax, above is modeling his Christmas sweater.     I don't know if he has a fireplace at his house, but remember to keep a screen in front of it.   I've actually had fosters who have gone right up to see what the bright lights are.
I don't think Jax would do that-- he's too busy playing with his toys.
Buffy (see her blog in a few days!) would dream of eating those treats that are next to her.     She knows that human food can be bad for her and cause a lot of problems like pancreatitis.   People food is for people!
Butterscotch really wants to know what is happening!    He's very curious and that curiosity can get this little guys in trouble.  Make sure all the breakables are where they can't get to them.    Many decorations are so fragile and you don't want your dogs getting ahold of broken glass.
Sassy Marie is adorable.    She doesn't look like she would get into anything!   But, she just might if there was a holiday plant near by.    Many of these plants are very toxic-- Holly, Poinsettia and other things are dangerous for dogs, so keep them up high.

Lulu is resting under her tree.     She wouldn't drink anything except water-- or would she?   Don't leave any alcoholic drinks where your dog can have a sip-- it can cause your pet to grow week, ill, go into a coma or die.    No alcohol for pets!
This is Ginny.   She is a friend of Mimi, one of my former foster dogs.    Ginny kept her bows in, but Mimi didn't.   So, she didn't have her picture taken.  Come on, Mimi, you are such a pretty girl!   Leave your bows in.  When her mom asked her if she wanted to be photographed, she just gave her a Peke sneeze!    I hope she's not getting into any chocolate.     Chocolate is popular at Christmas YUM!  But,  it's not good for dogs.
Oh, here's Mimi.   She pulled her bows out and has curled up in the chair.   Many dogs will leave Christmas lights alone-- but some have to kept away from them.   I have a doggy xpen around my trees-- dogs and grandkids can't touch. :-)    Christmas lights can cause a shock if a dog tries to take a bit of it.
Peka/Petey is hoping his parents leave some food near-by because he knows he can't have the edible decorations.    Popcorn and cookie decorations are not good for our pets.
I love tinsel  on one of my trees-- but if a dog eats it, it will cause cause a lot of problems.   They can't digest it and it can get all tangled up in the digestive system.    Magnolia (formerly Stella) and Amelia wouldn't dream of eating it.
Oh, Amelia, what a face-- Your mom calls this your "gimme a cookie" face.    You're both so cute.   Stay away from the Christmas presents and don't eat the wrapping and bows-- I know some of the presents are for you, so you just have to wait.

Ted has never bothered the tree, but some of the cats try to climb it. Grace decided to chew on the little beads on the Christmas tree skirt, so now its naked under our tree. LOL
