I received "ribbing" from my daughters about just having some of the grandkids in the blog. So, keep on reading-- I've added a lot more pictures. :-)
My husband and I have been married over 30 years now. We have 6 grandchildren.Matt is 57 today! That is YOUNG! (Yes, he married older haha.) I love this picture of him pulling Beach Bit when he was younger and Starlight going along for the ride. She is the princess and felt perfectly at home being pulled around the street.
Two of our grandchildren live across the street, so we see them a lot. The others live a few hours away-- wish they were closer! But, we are so blessed that they are in the state, not far away.
Beach Bit loves his Poppy! (And I am Moppy-- a name with a history of almost 40 years.)
Matt is a very giving person-- to me, to our grandchildren, to our community. He is a server, giving of himself when he can.
He is a man who loves me no matter what. He is a man who has put up with over 250 Pekingese who have come through out home, for short or long term care. That takes a lot of patience!
He is the love of my life and I'm so blessed to share my life with him. Happy Birthday!!
My daughter wrote this about her dad today:
"In love He predestined us to adoption...through jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will." (Eph 1:4-5)
My Daddy has taught me more about God's love than almost anyone else. He came into my life when I was about seven years old. I certainly didn't understand then what it meant to marry a widow with two daughters; I probably still don't. All I know is that on the day he made that promise of "till death do us part" to my mom, he made it to my sister and me, too.
Every day since then, he purposefully and intentionally loved us, listened to us, guided us, and taught us. We were never anything but his daughters; he was never anything but our daddy. He set the bar high for what a godly husband and father looks like. He was and is fully invested in us. Nothing has ever come before his wife and daughters--not his job, not other people, not ministry.
My Daddy has given me such a beautiful picture of the Father's love for us and what it means to be adopted into God's family because my daddy has never held any part of himself back from us. This is what God's love in Christ looks like.

I love you, Daddy! Happy Birthday!!
Matt with the grandgirls, Bitty Bit and Lil Bit when they were younger. I love this picture.Yes, same two grandgirls-- we live close to the beach and Matt is right in the water with them.
Drill Bit says, "Happy Birthday, Poppy!!"
Sugar Bit loves her Poppy-- the other day she showed it by giving him a lot of raspberries!
Matt loved our daughters and they now give love out in abundance. Kindness is always part of Matt's day. The love continues.
My niece and her family... "It's Poppy's Birthday!!" (We are Moppy and Poppy to them, too.)
And they love him just as much as he loves them.
Our faith brought us together.
Our life is full of Bits, and Pekes and other dogs and chaos and laughter and love.
Big swings on the porch bring a lot of joy, too!
Our dogs love him. Chumley....
Kai Kai.
Our youngest daughter is who she is because of Matt's love.
The grandbits adore him...
Max adores him---
And Starlight is HIS girl!
Floyd loves Matt.
He even had a dinosaur bone hunt on Christmas Day. The Bits, the dogs, friends, family.... we all love Matt. Thank you for being the best!!

Happy Birthday Matt!!
What a beautiful story and Matt is a gem but you doubtless are a gem as well with all of your dedication and time spent on rescue, spending precious hours with your Grand Bits and Matt.
I'm fortunate as well to have a great husband who is younger than I am but we compliment each other in our love of Pekes, a great home life, shared interest in cooking and the same sense of humor. He is a very giving man and has the kindest heart because he is always giving a hand to our friends and neighbors. We call him the Mayor of a little group of homes on this stretch of highway outside town.
So Happy Birthday to Matt because he's a giver as well. You gotta love them and their ability to encompass all that you love as well.
Happy Birthday, Matt!! And he married "up", not older, Linda!
I always love that pic of Beach Bit and Starlight in the wagon - doesn't she just look like she is accustomed to special treatment!
Best wishes for the whole Maxwell family!
