Taz and the rest had bad mouths. So many dogs we get have had little to no care and their mouths/teeth are a mess. This can lead to heart issues because of the infection. Care for these issues costs a lot, yet our adoption fees are so low. Our fees haven't changed for years, yet vet prices have increased. (We may have to look at this.) We just want good homes for them.
He also tested positive for Lyme disease, so has been getting treatment for that. All three had all the lab work we do on each new dog who comes in. Taz' labs were not terrible.
Taz had a slight bladder infection, but that is being treated. He had a tumor on his back end, not neutered and needed a dental badly.
He had his dental and lost all but one tooth. He will be neutered and have a tumor removed next. (Picture is before dental.)
He is definitely feeling better. Here is what his foster mom wrote. She sends me great updates on the foster dogs she has. We're so happy he came into rescue for the care he needed.
"Update on Taz for all of those who have asked about him.......It's been a week now since Taz lost all but 1 tooth. It wasn't until Friday, 1/28, that he showed any interest in his Hills ID stew...until then he was eating baby food. We mashed up the stew and he began to eat. Since then, he has shown excitement and anticipation as we are preparing meals for the dogs....and for us :-) He's getting his antibiotics (due to the dental and a UTI) and seems MUCH more comfortable. The crying and circling have stopped. He's alert and receptive to rubs and love. We have a follow-up next week and will determine then the scheduling for the neuter and the tumor removal. He is a beautiful Peke with the most soulful eyes..."😍

I am so glad to read that Taz is doing so much better!
Eating , which is great news and I bet those old teeth made his mouth so sore.
So good they are out and now he can heal fully!
Great work Foster Mum!
