Starlight came into rescue as a 3 year old Peke who had been abused. I picked her up in March of 2008.
She had two ruptured ear drums, weighed 10 pounds, had a bladder infection and needed nose and eye surgery. She had been kept in a crate, with bad food (you know, the one with dyes in it) and there were no windows in the room -- so she couldn't hear and she couldn't see anything.
They said she was mean and bit, and I just knew to be careful--
She loved me the minute I opened her crate! Lick lick lick! Wow. But, she wasn't so good with strangers. It seemed that once she arrived here, she felt safe and sabotaged anyone coming to meet her. She was NOT a nice girl! (Craig and Sylvia know all about this haha--and they adopted sweet Joshua instead.)
Starlight is so good with my grandson-- great buddies. She loves to be near him and give him kisses.
After a year of trying to find her a home, I realized she was going to "be bad" on every meeting with a prospective family and so we just decided she could stay. She ended up having massive seizures, and spent three days in ICU after we adopted her, so I'm glad she stayed where we could get her great care. (I know our adopters could have done it, too, but I felt good knowing she was here.) She is on seizure meds and her seizures are a thing of the past. Thank goodness! (We still have to monitor her levels and make sure she's on the right dose, in addition to just observing her.)
Starlight is definitely a daddy's girl when my husband is home, and my girl (or Beach Bit's girl) when he's not. I'm sure Beach Bit will sing happy birthday to her because Starlight is nine years old today! Happy Birthday, Starlight!!

Starlight just knew you were her family, even though it took you a while to figure it out:) I told you in the beginning she WAS home and she just didn't understand why you didn't understand! LOL! Happy Birthday sweet Starlight! It is hard to believe you are the same Starlight from so many years ago! Look at you with your boy child:)
